Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Redactra and how it works

Is my data safe? Does it leave my device?
Your data never leaves your device. Redaction happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly, so the content you paste or upload stays on your machine. We do not upload or store your text. The app only contacts our backend to verify premium subscriptions, download encrypted detection models, and send aggregated, anonymized analytics—never the text you redact.
How do the Free and Premium plans differ?

The Free tier covers common personal information patterns, while Premium unlocks our full enterprise rule library:

  • Free: Core PII detectors for emails, phone numbers, SSNs, passports, ZIP/postal codes, and common IDs.
  • Premium: Expanded detectors for API keys, cloud credentials (AWS, Azure, GCP), database URIs, infrastructure metadata, high-entropy secrets, and ML-assisted named entity recognition.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes. You can cancel anytime from your account settings. You will retain premium access until the end of your current billing cycle. See our refund and cancellation policy for details.
Do you offer refunds?
We do not issue refunds for subscription payments. If you cancel, you keep premium access until the end of your current billing period. Visit our refund policy for the full guidelines and instructions.
Is this app in beta?
Yes. Redactra is actively being developed. While core functionality is stable, you may encounter bugs or UI changes as we improve the product.
What file formats are supported?
You can paste text directly or upload .txt, .md, .csv, .json, .yaml/.yml, log files, and most common source-code extensions. Everything is processed as UTF-8.
How do I export my redacted text?
After redaction, click the Export button in the output panel. You can export as plain text or JSON with the full match metadata.
Can I customize which patterns are detected?
Yes. Click the "Pattern Settings" button in the editor to enable or disable specific pattern categories. Your preferences are saved to your account and synced across devices.
